From 21 October to 1 November 2024, the Youth4Nature team will participate in the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP16) in Cali, Colombia. Under the theme ‘Peace with Nature,’ COP16 marks the first meeting of the COP following the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) in 2022. As attention shifts toward implementation, governments will assess the progress in translating the global framework into national strategies and actions.

We know the clock is ticking for urgent actions for the climate and biodiversity crises. We also know that action must be driven by a rights-based approach, ensuring social and environmental safeguards are central. Nature-based Solutions should not be used to justify the continuation of harmful environmental practices or to excuse the delay of true decarbonisation efforts. We also recognise the role of youth as key leaders in climate and biodiversity actions, and ensure that youth-led solutions are central to international agreements.

Connect with us on-ground and follow our work online. No Action Without Nature, Youth, and Justice!
