INVESTING IN AFRIkAN YOUTH LEADING on NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS
INUKA - the Swahili word for βrise upβ - is Y4Nβs for-youth by-youth Nature-based Solutions (|NbS) accelerator pilot project in Kenya. It supports youth working in tangible restoration projects with knowledge, skills, networks, and funding to effectively implement and scale their projects. INUKA leverages experiential learning to foster restoration stewardship among youth across key landscapes and ecosystems in Kenya, including mangroves, inland-wetlands, ASALs, Agroforestry, and forested ecosystems.
Through in-person and virtual training, field visits, mentorship and networking, community building and peer-to-peer learning, a storytelling campaign, and micro-granting, INUKA is working with select youth projects across Kenya to:
π± build social entrepreneurship skills amongst youth to address poverty and create sustainable livelihoods,
π± scale up NbS projects on the ground that meet the highest biodiversity standards, and
π± launch compelling communications campaigns that inspire and mobilise other youth leaders across the Global South.
INUKA is more than youth or restoration; it's about building communities, thriving ecosystems, and improving livelihoods. It is a testimony of what power youth have to achieve action and impact.
