In May last year, we launched this initiative with the intent to leverage knowledge-sharing, storytelling, and capacity-building to mobilize youth to hold our political leaders account to both the climate and the ecological crises. Today, thanks to an incredible team of largely volunteers, we are an incorporated organization with multiple projects under our belt, access to international platforms, and we have built an incredible community of youth leaders from around the world.
And this is only the beginning.
We are humbled and thrilled to announce that Youth4Nature is hiring! We are looking for seven young individuals to join our team and help us grow: one full-time Communications Director, and six part-time Regional Directors.
It is unfortunately rare to get funded to do work as young people in environment, nature, climate, and justice spaces. Activism is not a hobby. Youth deserve to be funded for our labour. As an entirely youth-led, independent organization, we have had to fight hard for this, and we are committed to honouring this privilege by providing, and continuing to fight for fair, equitable, and meaningful work for young people. And as a global organization headquartered in Canada, we recognize that securing paid, meaningful work is more challenging for some youth than it is for others. We will actively seek diversity in growing our team, and encourage BIPOC youth, disabled youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and other youth with diverse backgrounds to apply. We are also actively incorporating anti-racism into the work we do, including by offering training to new staff.
Thank you to our funders, the ClimateWorks Foundation, for making this growth possible.
