SB 58: Outlook and Roadmap to COP 28

Coming immediately after the release of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report, which made it clear that the world is not on track to meet its climate goals, COP27 was an opportunity for countries to come together and discuss how to close the emissions gap. The intermediary 58th session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB 58) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn Germany came through to carry forward the ambition fas forward to the UNFCCC COP28

This Summit, while a step forward, is an example of the slow pace that decision-makers are taking in response to the climate crisis. While the official press release applauded the supposed increased ambition, we must continue to apply pressure for the urgent and bold action needed by COP26.

“In the end, thanks to the Immersion and my reflections on challenging experiences, I have come to the realisation that I can’t sustainably and joyfully work towards transformative and systemic change without undergoing some inner changes in my perspective and ways of functioning as part of the process. As mentioned, mobilising, campaigning and organising isn’t easy. And trying to do it without feeling comfortable in its innate intricacy, without love and positive energy is not possible in the long run. “
