Hafiz Jawad is a practitioner of “Global Environmental Affairs and Sustainable Development” and is amongst the top leading youth-climate action in the region.
He’s a qualified geoscientist and interdisciplinary scholar with his early careers in pure & applied sciences, natural resource exploration, field research, and industrial business development. He transitioned his mid-career around environmental conservation, development, and sustainability by advancing academics in public policy and international environmental laws. Currently, he works full-time with WWF-Pakistan in the freshwater program, focusing on ecosystem restoration, NbS, and community stewardship. Concurrently, he is involved with UN SDSN as Project Officer for their Global Schools Program, which works to integrate sustainability education and environmental awareness into school curriculum and classrooms across the world.
His cross-sectoral experiences & diversified background also empowered his thoughtful leadership and transformative journey of youth-led-climate action. His meaningful participation at UN Climate Conferences and other global, national forums has catalyzed youth mainstreaming and their institutionalization in national climate agenda and policy processes, including at the World Bank in the form of first-ever, Youth Advisory Board on Sustainable Development for South Asia. His work and voice have been featured across continents. His intergenerational collaborations, engagements, and active involvement in UN constituencies have transcended his network beyond political boundaries. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was invited to the states for an exclusive exchange on Air Quality of Pakistan, a Premium International Leadership Program, by the US Department of State. He is a member of several advisory boards and actively supports many businesses, educational institutions, and industrial organizations in just transition.
His leadership is hallmarked by advocacy for meaningful youth involvement, climate action, policy advancement, and sustainability. Hafiz is the co-founder of ‘Climate Forward Pakistan.’
