Fun Fact: Yazan is much younger in the real life than he is in the ID card, he wasn’t able to enjoy his childhood during the war in his country, so he is discovering it now ^.^
Yazan is a young ambitious activist. He is from one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world - Aleppo city in Northern Syria. Yazan comes from a technical background since he is studying for a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. In 2018, he discovered his interest in nature and climate after visiting a landfill in his country and saw children and women laboring there.
Yazan is confident about his ability to deliver the voices of young people from the most marginalized and vulnerable communities in the world to global climate discussions by advocating to them and challenging the global leaders to hold their responsibilities about them.
After spending 11 years of his life in one of the worsts wars in the 21st century, and he is almost survived [the risks still remain], he discovered new crises that are risking his(and his peers) future- the Climate Crises.
Amidst the extreme challenges and barriers, he faces, Yazan’s has started the first-ever community composting program in his country, inspired by nature-based solutions and traditional approaches to deal with nature and manage resources.
His experiences and encounters as a former internally displaced person have inspired him to want to help and advocate for those facing similar challenges globally.
